Eric’s life aboard a top secret stealth submarine as a member of the government’s M.E.R. program has been about discipline, cunning and survival. As both a soldier and a natural born regenerator, he can heal from any wound, but to stay alive he must accept a vein-burning serum that prevents his DNA from over-mutating. In exchange Eric must follow his Chief Commander’s every order. And never ask questions, no matter the assignment.
When he goes ashore on his first solo mission he runs into a complication he didn’t expect; Mariella, the target’s daughter. She’s about to change everything.

By the end of college, I was a well-oiled machine. I ate the same things for every meal (boring I know), went to bed at the same time every night, got up at the same time every morning, and stuck to the homework schedule I’d made for myself. I was even going to the gym every day. I had disciplined myself to stay close to that schedule because if I veered too off course, my grades would suffer.
In my book MUTINY, the M.E.R. program operates in a similar way. Soldiers wake up at the same time every morning, eat the same things, practice the same skills, and rotate along a chore schedule. Working together as a team is essential and every individual has their part to play. Soldiers never veer off course. Why? Well first, they’ve all been raised to adhere to the program’s rules since childhood. And second, the consequences suck. Eric (one of the main characters) describes one of these consequences in chapter one. He had to scrape gunk off the floor with his fingernails until they bled and eventually fell off.
When Eric meets Mariella, his routine falls to pieces. A slippery slope of events eventually leads to him and his team breaking almost every rule the M.E.R. program has set in place. And consequences follow of course!
