    Elena Michaels seems like the typically strong and sexy modern woman, She lives with her architect boyfriend, writes for a popular newspaper, and works out at the gym. She’s also a werewolf.
    Elena has done all she can to assimilate to the human world, but the man whose bite changed her existence forever, and his legacy, continue to haunt her. Thrown into a desperate war for survival that tests her allegiance to a secret clan of werewolves, Elena must recon with who, and what, she is in this passionate, page-turning novel that begins the Women of the Otherworld series.

    Fluttering Thoughts:

    Worldbuilding: Awesome paranormal elements-werewolves- and pack dynamics mixed in with Toronto and NY settings.
    Characters: Elena was awesome, a complex MC. She was fun, brave, passionate, and far from perfect – which of course only made me love her more. I was very emotionally in tune with her and she felt incredibly real and believable.
    Philip was okay, though it was glaringly obvious he was a bad choice. Clay was, well…intense and awesome, wild and loving, a bad boi vibe all the way. To me, it was never a triangle, there was only one option to begin with, and it was Clay 😀 I loved Elena with him and they had awesome, awesome chemistry.
    The other guys were really fun too, I really liked Jeremy, Nick, Antonio. Cool cast of characters.
    Favorite Character: Clay {you totally knew that was coming :p }
    Plot: The story was great, I loved it. It was eventful, had a good mix of action and romance, and a happy ending which is always nice when there’s romance involved. Overall, a great mix of urban fantasy, romance and suspense.
    Writing: First person narrative, Elena’s POV. I had a strange reaction to the writing style. I really loved it in emotional scenes, and it was cool in fighting scenes too, but there were parts that were more of the filling-you-in nature that didn’t get me as excited about the read as other parts did. Don’t get me wrong, I like getting the background on characters, but I’d rather we start the story at the very beginning of meaningful events and then go with the story in the order events happen then skip parts of it and get filled in where they’re relevant. You know what I mean? It’s a matter of personal preference though.
    Curb Appeal: Cool cover, hooking blurb. Were I in a werewolves story mood, definite impulsive buy material.

    All in all, this was a very rich, well rounded read. I loved the story, the characters, and though it was slower to pick for me, I was totally into it about halfway through the story. I wasn’t tempted to skip pages or give up at any point, but the beginning felt slower than I’ve gotten used to I guess.
    If I’d go with my instinct, I’d give the second half of the novel 5 butterflies and the first more like 3, on the overall though I felt more of a 3 than a 4. If you don’t have my pet peeve about flashbacks or fill-in telling, you’ll love it start to finish for at least a 4 butterflies 🙂

    If you’re into werewolves, love stories and complex female MC’s, definitely give this a try, it’s well worth it.

      I loved this book too. It’s been a while since I’ve read it, and haven’t read more than 3 books in the series, but want to re-read it and finish off the series.
