About In The Fading Light
by Tara Brown
Thanks so much for having me.
I thought maybe I could give you a sneak peak into my newest novel, In The Fading Light. It is a NA paranormal fantasy. I’m pretty excited about the storyline; it’s something I haven’t seen done since probably Lady Hawk in the 80s.
The story is built around castle life and arranged marriages but there is magic and darkness to the world. There is a mix up at birth to the story but it ends up being so much more. Revenge, anger, betrayal, and of course the fact our heroine shifts into something amazing. (Little secret, she wears a raven feathered dress for a reason.)
It starts off with a chase scene, a run-in with a beast that is more than he seems, and the story ends with true love’s kiss—ok maybe a little sexy time too. But it is the journey there that matters. It’s explosive and the love is consuming, all consuming.
Our hero is not the man in the story but our heroine, Estelle Dumont. She is strong, a survivor but also a champion. She is more than she seems and braver than she should be.
The man she loves, Edmond Lamont, is her equal in every way. He is strong and heroic, but there is so much more to him. He is self sacrificing and regardless of the horrors he faces he puts Estelle ahead of himself, even when she doesn’t see it or know it. He acts not only out of love but also because of a great guilt he struggles with. His past is stained by weakness and from that comes shame.
But in the end the story is about love at its base. Betrayal, hate, anger, suffering, and magic are just the extra added flavoring.
