More often than not, every good story always has two sides; the good and the bad. The drill is that most of the time the good side wins (yay for us). But they obviously have to face a lot of hardships and go against some twisted freaks in order to get where they are; so let’s just take a moment to look back and see the worst possible villains that we’ve ever encountered in YA literature (in no particular Order)
A) Sebastian Morgenstern from The Mortal Instruments: This guy has got to be one of the most scary villains there is. I mean, he’s got demon blood running in his veins, people! How creepy is that? And while his father had beliefs and logic, Sebastain is just randomly doing whatever he’s doing to take over the world. And he tried to molest his sister. That has GOT to be messed up.
B) Queen Livana from The Lunar Chronicles: This bitch is a cold blooded killer with no sense of remorse for anything she ever does. Eek, she kills her SISTER AND NEICE. And then wants to kill her NEICE AGAIN.
C) Voldemort from The Harry Potter Series: Duh, I don’t even need to explain this one.
D) Katerina Petrova from vampire diaries: TRICKING BOTH THE LOVES OF HER LIFE INTO THINKING SHES DEAD AND THEN TRYING TO KILL THE GIRL THEY BOTH LOVE? Definitely villain material.
E) Thiago from DOSB: He was a two faced double crossing psychopathic murderer and rapist who deserved everything he got.
F) Jude from Mara Dyer: He isn’t really the worst of them, but at the moment I have a deep hatred toward this boy. He dies, gets resurrected with supernatural powers, and is the meanest boyfriend ever.
G) The Eye of Sauron from The Lord of The Rings: Saved the best for the last! I remember seeing this movie for the first time, and getting so creeped out I stopped wearing jewellery for a week (not really, that was just a bet I had with one of my friends). But it did definitely scare me. I mean, that eye of fire, seeing everything we did? Eek.
H) Jeanine Mathews from Divergent: I’m pretty sure I’m a Divergent, because I’m dauntless, erudite, and candor (at least, that’s what I choose to believe, lol) and because if that, this chick would probably kill me. Also, she controls an entire faction with the help of one serum. A genius villain with the brains of an erudite. Oh God.
There are just so many more villains that definitely creep me out and if I ever encountered them, I’d do good to stay away from them because I know if I do to I’ll probably be dead. But these are villains in the form of characters. There are a lot of books where it’s not just characters that are the villains, but also other factors. Three of those which I dread the most?
B) A natural disaster
C) Diseases (TFiOS, anyone?)
All of these are probably my worst nightmare. Me and time have had a bit of a falling out lately, and, well, I’m going to be starting Torn Away by Jennifer Brown and I just know I’m going to cry. And well, I’ve already read The Fault in Our Stars, and let me just say that this is one of the worst villains you can ever encounter.
Still, I don’t think I’ve ever read about any villains that are just, well, bone chilling cold and scary to the end and will cut me in a single breath. I mean, sure, Voldemort could probably do more than that with his wand, but, well…eh. He’s just not that scary.
I’m still going to be on the lookout for scarier antagonists, though, because that what makes a good book extraordinary.
What do you guys think? Who’s the scariest villain you’ve ever read about?
