If you had the chance to start your life over, would you take it? If you were told you would live for eternity, would you embrace it? If a stranger told you he was your soul mate, would you believe it?
Raina Richmond has played it safe her entire life. She has never broken the rules. That is, until Brent Alexander walked straight into her life, causing havoc. Turning her world upside down.
Brent is the new kid in town. He is every girl’s fantasy: adorable, charming, chiseled, and the typical boy Raina usually steers clear of. But there is just something about him she can’t seem to resist. Safe is no longer an option for her. For him, she breaks all the rules.
What she doesn’t realize is that he holds the key to her past, present, and future. Once he reveals the reasons behind their irrevocable connection, she will unlock the answers to all of her questions, and her life as she knows it will never be the same again.

    Fluttering Thoughts:

That’s sweet: This book is full of interesting characters: Brent, the new boy in town an instant hit with all the girls but not interested at all in them. Raina, who looks at first like your everyday girl then turns out to be tougher and more exotic than expected. Her parents, working hard on new medication to help the sick and then it turns out to be her they try to safe. And of course Raina’s friends and one of their boyfriends who turned out to be much more creepy than she ever expected.
This love story is just delightful: Even though Raina is more than ambivalent towards Brent in the beginning one can feel the pull towards him from the beginning. And it turns out that their love is much more complicated than your usual relationship. Still, love CAN conquer everything.
Suspense comes in when Raina tries to find out more about her best friends boyfriend who seems to come from nowhere and has no family. When he tries to bring them apart, Raina steps in and risks everything for her friend. She doesn’t know though yet how much.
That stings: There are parts in the book where I felt, there is too much telling and not enough showing. However, they are not many and it did not disturb my reading joy a lot. Personally, I found that Raina was much too understanding towards her parents working all the time and her being on her own a lot. Even though a teenager of course does enjoy time on her own, it seemed to me, that there is a conflict missing. On the other hand I found it quite intriguing not to have the usual teenager-parent conflict laden relationship.
And the honey of it all? Read the book. The story is intriguing, the characters are interesting and there is nothing like a good love story for the weekend.
