What good is running AWAY when you only end up lost?
Cassandra Pierce had her whole “perfect” life planned out by her parents. One night of pure weakness and lust has her running away from it all and seeking refuge in Alamosa with her best friend. But it seems life has other plans for her when she finds herself lost in the small town of Keaton.
Jason Bradley is a charming country guy. He lives a simple life that’s nothing like what Cassandra is used to. A single moment in life changed everything he thought he once knew, leaving him with a broken heart and an unplanned future.
What happens in Keaton is nothing Cassandra or her heart could have ever prepared for. The instant connection she shares with Jason is no secret, but what they’re keeping hidden from one another is. Will these two be able to find a way to trust each other or will their secrets tear them apart?
Worldbuilding: This story takes place in the little town of Keaton, Colorado. Everyone knows everyone else and they watch out for one another. They welcome strangers with open arms and they make them feel like part of the family. These types of stories always make me want to live in a small town where I know my neighbors and have town dinners every week!!
Characters: The main characters of this novel were Jason and Cassandra. Cassandra is running away. Away from a life that she no longer wants to live and trying to out run a secret that won’t leave her alone. She just never expected her running away could lead to something she would cherish all her life. Jason knows how important it is to live your life like it’s your last day but lately it has been harder done than said. But then an amazing girl comes literally, crashing into his life and makes it worth living again. Ohmygosh I absolutely loved Jason!! He was definitely one of the best book boyfriends I have ever read! He was just a loveable character overall and one that everyone adored.
Plot: The storyline was unexpected at some points! This story was not so much fighting for a relationship as it was fighting for learning to love and cherish the little things in life. It was really just about coming to terms with what you don’t have control over in life.
Writing: The story was told in the first person point of view of Cassandra. I loved having her point of view but I really wish Jason’s was included as well. I think with his point of view it would have really rounded out the story and would have given an insight to how he was feeling and what he was going through, through everything.
Curb Appeal: The cover is just wonderful! It definitely captures Cassandra perfectly. The blurb really does justice to the story and gives you just enough insight to make you really intrigued.
Ultimately: I believe I have read a good book when it has reached down deep inside me and pulled on my heartstrings. And I know I have read an even better book when it inspires me in my own life to make the most of every moment because you just don’t know how much time you have left. This book was amazing! And even though this isn’t my usual type of story that I adore, due to the ending, it is going to stick with me for a long while!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
