When you’ve got nothing, you’ve got nothing to lose. But what happens when you have everything you ever wanted? You fight to keep it.
Cormac “the Hurricane” O’Connell’s star is on the rise. Billed as the most promising young boxer of his generation, his new career is taking him to places he never dreamed. But O’Connell only needs one thing in life: his wife. In her final year of college, Em cannot follow him around the world but together they make it work.
Just when everything they ever wanted is on the horizon, the past resurfaces to haunt them and O’Connell realizes that justice might not be a part of his happy ever after.
He couldn’t protect Em once before, but in the aftermath of the hurricane, he will make sure that never happens again.
I absolutely adored the first book in this series and this second book is no exception!!!!! These characters went through so much in this story and it was just a dagger to the gut every time something went wrong (which happened the majority of the book). *sobs* Cormac and Emily were such a solid couple that without each other I don’t think they would have over came all the obstacles that were thrown their way!
Cormac “The Hurricane” O’Connell has never loved anything the way he loves his wife, “Sunshine” aka Emily. But instead of the happily ever after they thought was coming after their marriage and heartaches, fate has a different plan instore for them. Frank, Emily’s stepfather, is in prison but a set of circumstances threatens to set him free. O’Connell has vowed to never let Sunshine down again but with a series of high profile fights coming up, there are only so many places he can be at one time. Can O’Connell keep Sunshine safe and get ready for his fights or will something give before he can have it all?
Emily “Sunshine” O’Connell is in for a rough year. Not only does she have her degree to finish, her husband’s crazy training schedule to help with, but an old terror from her past comes to rear its ugly head in her new happy life. But Emily isn’t the same scared little girl she used to be. Now she has a new family, a new life, and a happiness that she refuses to give up. Even though the punches keep coming and the outlook keeps getting bleaker and bleaker, she won’t go down without a fight and this time she’s got a whole army that won’t go down either.
This novel was the bomb.com in my opinion!! I couldn’t put this story down but I didn’t want to finish it either!! This story was different because instead of having Emily’s point of view like The Hurricane had, The Aftermath had O’Connell’s point of view and it was magnificent!!!! I wasn’t expecting it but wholly appreciated it! This story is a continuation of the first novel so this series, needs to be read in order and this story is not a standalone.
Ultimately R.J. Prescott is a master at creating characters that pull at your heartstrings that leave you begging for more! I’m so excited to see what R.J. Prescott has in store for us readers and I’m crossing my fingers for a third novel in this series! If you are in the mood for a big hulking possessive alpha male that loves his wife above all others and a woman that has more to fight for than ever before then come check out The Aftermath!!!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
