a thing that is accepted as true or as certain to happen, without proof
They say when you assume that you make an ass out of you and me.
Kenton Mayson learned this lesson firsthand when he made assumptions about Autumn Freeman and the kind of woman she is based on what little information he had. What he finds out is she’s not only beautiful, but also smart, funny, a fighter, and exactly the kind of woman he wants to share his life with.
Autumn made assumptions of her own about Kenton, and now he needs to prove her wrong in order to protect her and their future.
Worldbuilding: This novel originally takes place in Las Vegas and then jumps on over to a little mountain town outside of Nashville, Tennessee. Small towns are my weakness! This wasn’t so small that everyone seemed to know everyone else but small enough that the characters would run into each other often!
Characters: The main characters in this story are Kenton and Autumn. Man oh man, Kenton was an ass and Autumn was sassy as hell and I loved it!! Kenton Mayson is the big man in charge and used to people doing exactly as he says, when he says it. But that all changes when Autumn is dropped into his life. Autumn Freeman has just had her whole life uprooted and she can never go back. Having a safe haven is more than she expected but she didn’t anticipate how frustrating one man could be or how her new life could be more fulfilling than her last. Can Autumn and Kenton get over their assumptions of each other? Or will their assumptions be the downfall of any relationship they might have?
Plot: I was not anticipating the story being what it was but I still really liked it! Autumn and Kenton’s romance was off the charts hot but their relationship was a little hot and cold. The thriller arc of the story was the part I wasn’t expecting. Everything flowed pretty smoothly and I did appreciate the justice that was meted out in the end! There were a few other smaller plot points that were nicely wrapped up in the end as well!!
Writing: This novel was told in first person points of view of both Kenton and Autumn. The story definitely felt like it went by pretty fast as I was reading it.
Curb Appeal: The cover is super great! I really thought this was a MMA story so the cover fitted that description great and now that I know that is not the case I still think it fits the story tremendously well! The blurb is spot on!! As much information is not given it in the blurb it still sets the tone of the relationship that is going to take place!
Ultimately: This was a pretty good start to a new series! I thought this was a two part novel but rest assured it is not! It does not end in a cliffhanger and has a HEA!! It also seems loosely connected with Aurora Reynolds’s Until series but I haven’t read that series and it didn’t seem like I needed to, to connect with this story! All in all if you are in the mood for a sassy heroine that won’t take shit lying down and an alpha male that will do anything to protect what is his then come check out Assumption!!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
