Parker Black wants the one woman he shouldn’t have—his buddy’s girl. She’s sweet and smart, but clueless about how deep Parker lives in Titan’s virtual world. Everything is controlled. Chaos is mastered. Black and white data and risk analysis. That is the way he understands his world, how he plays his role to keep Titan teams alive.
But he’s wrong.
Lexi Dare lives two lives. She’s an unhappy fiancée stuck in a spiraling relationship, unsure how she ended up with a ring on her finger and an abuser in her bed. But she’s also elusive. Elite. A master hacker playing deadly stakes.
When the lines blur and the truth comes out, Lexi’s only shot at survival is the trust of her rival—her equal—before it’s too late.
Worldbuilding: This story takes place in the United States and really stays pretty close to the Titan headquarters.
Characters: The main characters in this novel are Lexi Dare and Parker Black. Lexi aka SilverChaos is one of the best hackers in the world but it isn’t something that can really translate well to her everyday life. She’s engaged to someone that not only doesn’t understand her computer life/persona but also hurts her. She’s scared to leave the only home she has ever known but she realizes the longer she stays the more her real personality fades away. Will she be able to face her fears and walk into a brighter future? Or will old fears and scars keep her locked in toxic and scary situation? Parker Black aka BlackDawn is a hacker and the go to computer nerd for his military company: Titan. He has always thought in terms of risk assessment, codes, and numbers. But when it comes to Lexi, one of his oldest buddies’ girl, the only thing he can seem to think about is how great it would be if she was his. When Parker finally decides to take a closer look into Lexi’s home life, he is appalled and disgusted at the abuse that takes place. Saving Lexi is only the tip of the iceberg and before long his heart is calling the shots. Can he keep her safe when a nefarious terrorist plot comes to light or will the situation prove to be more than he can handle?
Plot: This story had a few interesting story arcs. The first was Lexi’s abusive relationship with her fiancé. The second was her budding romance with Parker. And last but not least was action arc that was interwoven with Lexi’s computer hacker persona.
Writing: This novel is told in third person points of view of Parker, Lexi and has a few snippets of her fiancé and the bad guy. The story was slightly slower in some areas than other novels in this series but it was still enjoyable.
Curb Appeal: The cover is super great and I can totally see Parker being the model!! The blurb gives the reader a taste of every main point in the story but leaves enough mystery to make you want to know more! This blurb really got me interested in this story and it didn’t disappoint!
Ultimately: This was great addition to the Titan series! This is technically a standalone romance novel but I think it would be more enjoyable to read the first books in the series to really get a picture of all the characters and what makes them so great! All in all if you are in the mood for a hacker babe that is sexy and sassy when she breaks out of her shell and a hacker hunk who will do whatever it takes to take care of his woman then come check out Black Dawn!!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
