Taylor Delaney is the love of my life.
She’s also the one I’ve hurt the most.
Two years ago, I made a disastrous mistake.
One I’m not sure I can make amends from.
But I have to try, because I’m nothing without her.
Brad Ashby’s here, in my hometown, asking for a second chance.
All those unresolved feelings for him have resurfaced.
Not that they ever went away.
I know I should run him out of the town, but I can’t.
He needs to know that I wasn’t the only one who was deceived.
Even if we gave our relationship another try, how can we rebuild what’s been destroyed? If we weren’t strong enough then, what makes us strong enough now?
Worldbuilding: This story mostly takes place in the small town of Roosevelt, Michigan, in and around Taylor’s home.
Characters: The main characters in this novel are Taylor Delaney and Brad Ashby. Taylor Delaney had the perfect relationship, until her boyfriend’s dreams crashed down around them and made them both drown. But after learning some startling news she has no option but to pick herself up and make a new, secure, and comfortable life for herself. After two years of no contact Brad waltzes back into her life and throws her for a loop. Can she send him away and keep her secret that she has had for the past two years or will her heart get the better of her and give him another chance? Brad Ashby was on top of the world in college until some life changing news caused him to spiral and lose the love of his life. Now two years later, clean up and with a new lease on life, he is ready to fight for his girl no matter the cost. But now he is in for another life changing piece of news, can he man up and prove his worth to Taylor or will he slink away, never to return?
Plot: This story right off the bat tells the reader that the hero is a cheater and that, amongst other issues is the reason why the heroine is estranged from him. There is no cheating in the actual story but they do talk about it. I didn’t really feel like he groveled enough for forgiveness in the story but I do think he realized and understood how much he devastated her with his actions. The majority of the story is about their second chance romance.
Writing: This novel is told in first person points of view of both Brad and Taylor as well as past and present point of view. This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone, which is what I did! I didn’t feel like I missed anything by not reading the first novel in the series.
Curb Appeal: I love the cover especially after reading the story and seeing how it connects back to Brad. The blurb is short and to the point and I really liked that! There is a ton left out of the blurb, so there are a lot of surprises in store for the readers.
Ultimately: I liked this story and I appreciated the fact that even though their past was riddled with mistakes, they were able to work through them to build a life together. All in all, if you are in the mood for a second chance romance where the hero won’t take no for an answer then come check out how their Love Rekindled!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
