What’s worse than a cocky new guy at school? A cocky new guy with a killer body and the attention of every female at school. Hadley can tell the minute she lays eyes on Caynan that he’s someone to avoid. He may have looks and charm, but he’s also got heartbreak written all over his pretty face.
Unfortunately for Hadley, Caynan has his sights set on her. She’s the one girl who doesn’t want him. The one girl who’s turned off by his charm. The one girl who challenges him like no other. And, though she couldn’t possibly know the truth about him, she seems to be the one girl who really sees him.
But with Caynan, things aren’t at all what they seem. His secrets have secrets and everything out of his mouth straddles the line between truth and fiction. He knows better than to get involved with anyone, especially with his time limited in the new town, but he just can’t seem to get Hadley out of his mind. Too bad for him, secrets never remain secrets for long.
Worldbuilding: This novel takes place in Jacobsville, Georgia.
Characters: The main characters in this story are Hadley and Caynan. Hadley never takes chances on players so when Caynan comes to town she’s sure as shit not going to give him the time of day. But he seems different. He pursues her and she can’t help but get worn down by his charm. But not everything is as it seems. Caynan lives a shadowy life and has secrets upon secrets. He shouldn’t get mixed up with this beautiful girl but she makes him feel like he could have a life beyond this fake one he lives. Can Hadley break through Caynan’s walls and help him forge a new life? Or when Caynan’s secrets come to light, break apart any and everything Hadley and Caynan could have?
Plot: There are two main story arcs. The first is Caynan’s mystery life and what he is into and the second is Hadley and Caynan’s romance.
Writing: This story was told in first person points of view of Hadley and Caynan. It is also split into Part One – High School and Part Two – 3 years later/College. Initially I thought this whole novel took place in the high school stage but I was pleasantly surprised to find out the characters reunited when they were older!
Curb Appeal: This cover is pretty damn hot and I definitely can see Caynan as the model! The blurb completely captured my interest and does a good job of giving just enough information and leaving a good amount to be found out in the story!
Ultimately: This was a great new adult romance story that was so much more than meets the eye!! The first half of the story you can really feel Caynan’s struggle with everything and how much Hadley changes him. And in the second half you can feel how much Hadley wants to guard her heart as well as open it back up to Caynan. All in all, if you are in the mood for a hero who learns from his mistakes and wants to make amends and not let his girl go then come check out Before Hadley!!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
