Ever wondered if Ransom Scott would get his happily ever after? Find out February 16th!
It started with a drink.
It turned into a promise.
Ransom Scott lost his heart the day the woman he loved chose another man. Or so he thought. Estranged from his brother, distancing himself from the world, he’s been drowning his sorrows in cheap booze and women…determined to forget.
His world is falling apart, until a beautiful woman decides to take a chance on him.
Dani Deviche is as bewitching as she is innocent. Full of youth and vitality, she captivates him. Challenges him. She’s everything Ransom never thought to look for in the opposite sex, and he can’t get enough.
When a promise of friendship turns into something more, can Ransom fulfill his end of the bargain, or will a secret from Dani’s past destroy his last chance at happiness?
**Author’s Note** This book was written as a compliment to the Forbidden Trilogy. However, it can be read as a standalone.
Worldbuilding: This novel takes place mostly in and around Ransom’s house as well as Dani’s.
Characters: The main characters in this story are Ransom and Dani. Ransom has had his whole life flipped upside down and his heart crushed. Having the woman that he loved chose his brother throws him into a downward spiral that he doesn’t think he can come out of until he meets Dani. She is so caring and drop dead gorgeous that it takes everything in him to take it slow with her. But is she too good to be true? Dani meets a broken man that fills her life up with so much light but can she do the same for him? As she deepens her relationship with him, the secrets she is keeping start to gnaw at her. Can she come clean and strengthen their relationship or will their new love come crumbling down when the truth comes out?
Plot: The main story arc is about Ransom and Dani finding out their one true love lies with each other.
Writing: This novel was told in third person points of view of Ransom and Dani. It is also the fourth novel in the Forbidden Trilogy, but can be read as a standalone. I didn’t read the first three novels in this series and I didn’t feel like I was missing anything by reading this novel alone.
Curb Appeal: I love, love, love this cover!! It’s dark and edgy just like Ransom! And the blurb really sums up the story in a nutshell.
Ultimately: This was a great story about finding your one true love and not letting it get away! The main conflict of the story really wasn’t my cup of tea and I thought it could’ve been developed better or be a different conflict entirely. All in all, if you are in the mood for a hero that will stop at nothing to claim his woman then come check out her Forbidden Valentine!!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
