Fisher Braun knows how to keep a secret. As a covert paramilitary operative, his job—and his life—depends on it. He’s at the top of his game, ready for action and always in control. No enemy has ever brought him to his knees, but one lover has: Zachary Allen, the man currently sharing his bed. The perfect package of brains and brawn, Zach is someone worth coming home to, and Fisher hates keeping him in the dark about what he does. But the lies keep Zach safe. Until the day Fisher loses everything. . . .
Zachary Allen is no innocent civilian. Although he plays the tech geek, in reality he’s deep undercover for the CIA. In a horrible twist of fate, the criminal enterprise he’s infiltrated has set its sights on the man whose touch drives him wild. Zach would do anything for Fisher—except blow his own cover. Now, in order to save him, Zach must betray him first. And he needs Fisher to trust him with all his heart if they want to make it out alive.
Worldbuilding: The world of the SAD, CIA, and criminal organizations was very tense, with all these secrets and identities and ops. Really fun!
Characters: Fisher and Zach were an interesting couple. At first Fisher seems, well, fishy, lol, with his secret life as an agent and all. And then Zach… well. Nothing is as it seems for a while there. They had this awesome chemistry and really interesting dynamic, revolving around each other, gravitating toward each other. They were fun and hot as a couple, and kickass too, which is always a plus xD
Plot: The romantic arc was pretty tense and exciting, and it kept me guessing about how they’d come to terms with their love. When it happened, it felt real, pragmatic in a way, but still romantic too – yey! – but maybe it felt like it happened a little too quickly. The op part of the novel was pretty cool too, lots of action but not becoming insanity. Great pace of events on all fronts, hehe!
Writing: Third person, past tense narrative, his and his POV.
Curb Appeal: Cool cover, hooking blurb, and I know what HelenKay Dimon can do, so impulsive buy material for sure.
I recommend Mr. and Mr. Smith if you love MxM Romantic Suspense staring kickass operatives, agents and spies, with a good dose of crime-fighting. I suspect this is the first in a new series, probably revolving around the other guys in the team? I dunno. At the time of writing this I couldn’t find details to share. If you do in the meantime, do share in the comments, hehe 😀
