An orphaned, small-town, southern girl, held hostage by responsibility and self-doubt.
A Hollywood A-list mega-star, on the run from his latest scandal and with everything to lose.
A chance encounter that leads to an unlikely arrangement and epic love affair that will change them both forever.
When his co-star and real-life girlfriend is caught cheating on him with her new director, A-list hottie, Jack Eversea, finds himself in sleepy Butler Cove, South Carolina. Jack hopes the sultry southern heat in this tiny coastal Lowcountry town will hide him not only from the tabloids and his cheating girlfriend, but his increasingly vapid life and the people who run it. He doesn’t count on meeting Keri Ann Butler.
Keri Ann has relied on herself so long, dealing with her family’s death and the responsibilities of keeping up her family’s historic mansion, that boys and certainly the meager offering of eligible boys in Butler Cove, have never figured into her equation. But fate has other plans. Suddenly face to face with the man who played the movie role of her favorite fictional character, Jack has Keri Ann yearning for everything she has previously avoided … and Jack must decide whether this funny, sassy girl is worth changing his life for, before his mistakes catch up to him.
Worldbuilding: This story takes place in Butler Cove Island, South Carolina! I really enjoyed that the setting was so well described throughout the novel, I honestly felt like I was there!
Characters: The main characters in this novel are Keri Ann Butler and Jack Eversea. Keri Ann has been stuck in her small seaside town and has slowly but surely started to close herself off to new people and opportunities, in hopes to save herself from more heartache than she can handle. Jack Eversea is famous and the whole world is his oyster until he is betrayed and the fame doesn’t seem so great anymore. A chance encounter between the two, puts Keri Ann and Jack on a path where they find the greatest experience of their life but also the worst. As they spend more time with each other one thing becomes clear; neither can walk away from the connection that sparked to so much more than they ever imagined. But when the past rears its ugly head and infiltrates their perfect seaside bubble, can they pick up the pieces that are shattered? Or will their instantaneous connection be overshadowed by the devastating secret that is waiting to explode?
Plot: The story overall was about a celebrity trying to disappear for a while who stumbles upon a woman who flips his life upside down. I really loved Keri Ann’s character. She just seemed so much more mature and grounded than the other heroines I’ve been reading lately.
Writing: This story is told in first person point of view of Keri Ann. This novel moved pretty quickly in terms of a timeline and is book one of two, that ends in a cliff hanger.
Curb Appeal: This cover is so unique and completely relates to the story! It is definitely one of the prettiest covers I’ve ever seen and it just makes me want to look at it all day! The blurb practically tells the whole story in a nutshell! But it leaves out how relatable the characters are and how their connection leaves you rooting for them in the end!
Ultimately: I was totally enamored with this couple! I laughed and I cried and I sure as hell wanted to beat Jack sometimes! But in the end I was begging for their happily ever after! All in all, if you are in the mood for a swoon worthy hero who is about to meet the love of his life and a heroine who is humble and kind then come check out Eversea!!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
