Folks in town call him a monster—say he’s dangerous. But I know him simply as Elijah Hays, the quiet, gentle giant who works with the horses on my ranch. I can feel him watching me, that steady intense gaze making me crave things I don’t quite understand, burn in a way that frightens me. He’s always kept his distance…until that night.
I remember him coming to my rescue, me following him into the barn, giving him his first taste of a woman, and his inexperienced yet barely reined touch turning me to ash.
Now all I can think about is exposing the dark desire I see deep inside him—having him turn those dark desires on me. That low, gritty voice rasping orders in my ear. Those huge, rough hands holding me down when a storm blows in.
I want his surrender. His control. I want to break him…and have him break me…
Worldbuilding: This story takes place in the small town of Deep River, Montana. Where the people who are born there, usually die there and know everybody’s business.
Characters: The main characters in this novel are Elijah Hays and Abigail Smith. Abigail has a secret. Ever since Eli started working on her father’s farm, she can hardly keep her eyes off of him. His hulking stature and quiet demeanor do nothing but intrigue her. And the way he tames their wild horses, makes her wish he would handle her the same way. Unfortunately, after her father passes away and the whole farm becomes her responsibility, little crushes fall to the wayside insight of bigger problems. But these feelings don’t magically go away and after witnessing his need to protect her, all bets are off. Eli is quiet. But that doesn’t mean he’s slow or dumb, it just means he sees everything. And every time Abi looks at him it gets harder and harder to stay way. After coming to her aid and finally putting his hands on her, he feels like he is complete. But his past is no walk in the park and everyone seems dead set against them. Can Eli overcome his past so that he might have a bright and beautiful future with Abi? Or will the demons in his past come in and destroy the happiness he has built?
Plot: This story is mostly about the romance brewing between Abigail and Elijah. It definitely had a feel of being an erotic novel with a splash of background drama thrown in.
Writing: This novel is told in first person point of view of Abigail and is a standalone.
Curb Appeal: I love this cover! With the hero and heroine featured as well as the rope, I just like how it all relates back to the story. The blurb is fantastic and the main reason I wanted to read this story to begin with. It doesn’t give a lot of background on the characters but it does a good job of setting up the romance between the two.
Ultimately: The hero was so sweet! And the passion between the two was steaming up my screen! This was my first time reading anything from this author and I have to say I was super impressed! All in all, if you are in the mood for a big hulking, sexy virgin hero who will do anything to protect his woman, and a heroine who wants to show her man what love is, then come check out Breaking Him!!!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
