Women loathed me without even knowing my name. Men coveted the very idea of me.
Escort. Call girl. Prostitute. Hooker. Whore.
I’d heard it all. Done it all.
Over the years I’d felt a lot of things about my occupation…but not regret–never regret. I had my reasons for doing what I did and nothing and no one had ever made me question them.
UNTIL MARCO VALENTI.
He’d changed me and I’d naively fed into the fairy tale.
But Marco wasn’t my Prince Charming. He had secrets of his own. Secrets that would eventually rip away everything I held dear.
Worldbuilding: This story takes place in the city of sin aka Las Vegas! I did like that there were some landmarks talked about within the story as well as the slight peak into what the atmosphere was like.
Characters: The main characters in this novel are Brandi aka Emily Ross and Marco Valenti. Emily is a survivor. Doing all she can to make it in this world and give herself a future to look forward to. But after she meets her new client, Marco Valenti, her life turns upside down. One of her first and foremost rules is, do not fall in love with a client, but his magnetism is far too great to ignore. Can she keep her wits about her and not fall for him? Or will finally putting her heart on the line be her downfall? Marco is mysterious. He doesn’t let people in and everything is a business transaction, until he meets Emily. Emily is unlike any woman he has met before and he will stop at nothing to possess her and her love. But being merely in his presence puts her at risk, but he just can’t let her go. Can he protect Emily and make a place for himself in her life? Or will his secrets rip apart everything she holds dear?
Plot: This story had a lot of things going for it. I loved how Emily was an escort and that she wasn’t all disillusioned about life. She had dreams and goals and was a kickass mom to boot! But what I really enjoyed about the story was that as much as it was about a budding romance between Marco and Emily, her son also was the main focus.
Writing: This novel is written in first person point of view of Emily. It also ends in a wicked cliff hanger that completely unexpected.
Curb Appeal: I love the cover! Definitely did a good job of capturing my attention and not being the run of the mill cover. The blurb took place where the cover let off! It’s in your face, upfront, and doesn’t mince words. It leaves out a lot of important features and you don’t know what you’re exactly getting into but it definitely leaves you intrigued.
Ultimately: I’m kind of upset that I didn’t know this was a two-part story going in! But I did go ahead and get the second novel and I just can’t wait to see what is ahead for these characters! All in all, if you are ready for a possessive, smooth speaking Italian hero, who wants his girl at any cost then come check out Hook!!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
