Leena has been in love with her boss, Nick DeMarco, for almost eight years. But he’s never given her any indication that she was special to him. Their relationship was close, but rarely outside of a business function. So when he invites her to be his fake girlfriend at his family’s Christmas week she is thrilled and ready to show Nick just what he’s missing out on, her only wish for the Christmas season.
Nick wouldn’t admit it to anyone except his brother, but his assistant Leena is the only woman he’s had feelings for in quite some time. He didn’t want to seem like a powerful boss trying to seduce his employee so he had ignored his desire for her for the past five years. When the opportunity to take her to his family’s chalets opens he takes it, intent on seducing her.
When things begin to heat up with Leena and Nick, both are pleasantly surprised. But a winter storm traps them in the chalet just as Nick’s older brother Jake arrives. When he makes no attempt to hide his attraction to Leena the whole vacation becomes heated. What will happen when the storm lifts, will the assistant have gotten a her Christmas wish?
Worldbuilding: This story takes place in Denver, Colorado at Christmas time! I loved how much the snow and the holiday were such a big part of the story.
Characters: The main characters in this novel are Leena Kensy, Nick and Jake DeMarco. Leena has been in love with her boss, Nick, for years but she has never acted on those feelings. After Nick invites her to his family chalet for the holidays she can barely contain her excitement and has decided to finally tell him how she feels. But when his brother, Jake, shows up, her plans are thrown into a tailspin. Caught between two men is something she never dreamed of nor is the hurt or betrayal that is sure to come about after everyone declares their intentions. Can she follow her heart without hurting anyone? Or will she lose both men as well as her heart?
Plot: This story is mainly about finally following your heart and it also feature a love triangle so if anyone is turned off by that theme I would steer clear of this book!
Writing: This novel is told in third person points of view of Leena, Nick, and Jake.
Curb Appeal: I really, really like this cover! It completely relates to the story and totally gets me in the spirit of the holidays and winter time! The blurb pretty much sums up the story in a nutshell.
Ultimately: This was a good holiday story about following your heart and finally going after what you want. It didn’t really end up being my cup of tea due to the love triangle that took up the majority of the novel. All in all, if you are in the mood for some snowy romance with not one but two heroes then come check out The Assistant’s Christmas Wish!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
