I was a pawn.
Weak and someone easily manipulated.
To be played with as he saw fit.
YOU shone light in my now dark world.
It was YOU who made me smile.
For the first time in this game, I had hope.
All because of YOU.
The more powerful pieces on the board, however, were a threat to YOU and me.
They would win at any cost.
Two kings ruling with an iron fist.
Allies or opponents, it was hard to tell.
YOU promised to save me.
Told me we would win.
But then I was on the wrong side of the board.
This isn’t YOU, baby.
And I don’t know what to do.
The game is almost over and I’m counting on YOU.
This Isn’t You, Baby is a dark romance. Strong sexual themes, excessive drug use, and violence, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. If you are sensitive to dark themes, then this story is not for YOU.
This story will make YOU smile.
This story will make YOU angry.
This story will make YOU crazy.
I hope YOU love it, baby.
Worldbuilding: This story starts in California, then jumps over to Bogota, Columbia, and ends up in the Margarita Island of Venezuela. I loved how there were different locations throughout the novel where the characters visited!
Characters: The main characters in this novel are Gabriella Sharpe, Ren McPherson, and Duvan Rojas. Crazy doesn’t even begin to cover Gabriella’s last three years of life. After discovering her dead mother, being abandoned by her father, and being picked up by the Berkley family all she wants is some peace. But it’s about to get a whole lot worse before it can get better. Ren McPherson was put in a position to watch out for Gabriella and help her anyway he can without getting caught. But he could have never known how hard and fast he would fall for her. Unfortunately, she is promised to another. Duvan Rojas is about to inherit an empire. And with it, a woman he never wanted. But he is willing to do what is expected of him and make the best out of the situation. Gabriella is his and no one will stand between him and his woman.
Plot: This was above all else a romance myriad in heartache and a twisted ride all the way to rock bottom. It does have a love triangle thrown into the mix so some readers may want to steer clear of this story.
Writing: This novel is told in first person points of view of Gabriella, Ren, and Duvan. It is also the fourth novel in the War & Peace series and cannot be read without reading the first three novels in order first. It ends with a killer cliffhanger so readers be forewarned!!!
Curb Appeal: These covers are so great, I love how sleek and unique they are! The blurb gives absolutely nothing away and leaves everything a surprise for the reader!
Ultimately: This was another ridiculously twisted novel in the War & Peace series but it was equally brilliant as well!!!! I love the crazy convoluted story lines, the multi-dimensional characters, and the limits that are pushed in these stories!! All in all, if you are in the mood to dive deep into to an insanely warped world then come check out This Isn’t You, Baby!!!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
