Distraction (Distraction #1)
Aside from the normal changes in her life, college junior, Elle Richards, can always count on her friendship with Tristan. The longing for him to love her back is something she keeps well hidden, even from herself. No matter how many miles apart they are, regular phone calls and texts keep them close…until the day everything changes.
Wide Receiver Tristan Daniels has a good thing going. Much to his, and every single woman’s surprise, he’s in a committed relationship. The possibility of going pro looks more than promising…until his spur of the moment transfer to a rival college is approved. Now, Tristan will be forced to be in the presence of the woman he’s secretly loved for as long as he can remember. Elle.
Being away from one another was enough to keep Tristan and Elle distracted, but angst, confusion, and troubled secrets launches them into a breathless, heart pumping story you won’t want to miss!

Fluttering Thoughts:
Worldbuilding: This story takes place in Texas at Texas Tech University. Mostly in and around Elle and Tristan’s dorms.
Characters: The main characters in this novel are Elle Richards and Tristan Daniels. Tristan has always looked out for Elle. Ever since they were little kids, Elle has meant the world to Tristan. But to make her his is impossible. So, all he needs to get her off his mind is a little distraction, and eventually the distraction becomes much more than that. He loves his new girlfriend and now that he is in a committed relationship the easier it will be to be around Elle, he thinks. But not is all what it seems when he and Elle start going to the same college. Being around her is harder now than ever and his girlfriend is occupying his thoughts less and less. Can Tristan finally come to terms with his true feelings for his best friend? Or will he allow her to slip through his fingers for the last time?
Plot: This is mainly an angst filled romance between best friends, Elle and Tristan.
Writing: This novel is told in first person points of view of Elle and Tristan. It is the first novel in the Distraction series that ends in a HEA but Elle and Tristan’s story still continues in the subsequent books.
Curb Appeal: I really like the cover! It doesn’t seem to be completely related to the story but I do think it represents Elle and Tristan well! The blurb gives great background on the characters and the situation without giving everything away.
Ultimately: I loved how sweet Tristan was in the end! He finally realized who really held his heart and that he would be willing to do anything to make her happy. I also really liked how Elle didn’t just jump into Tristan’s arms when he finally ended it with his ex-girlfriend, but made him work for their relationship. All in all, if you are in the mood for an angsty, best friends to lovers’ story then come check out Distraction!!
