The game was over and they stole the victory away from ME.
Cheating. Lies. Corruption. Death.
This pawn never stood a chance.
But then he came for ME.
He plucked ME from my nightmare and kept me safe.
My heart was in tatters and my soul was lost.
Until the beast in ME woke up.
She was hungry and furious and didn’t play by the rules of their game.
We were a vicious team. And we changed the game altogether. I took what was theirs because they took what was mine.
ME against them.
That is…until I had someone else with ME.
Someone who vowed to fight alongside ME until the very end.
I don’t want the love he has for ME.
But the beast in ME still craves to take everything she deserves.
He should run far away from ME.
Instead, he runs straight for ME.
This is ME, baby and I am going to ruin them all.
Worldbuilding: This story takes place in Columbia and California.
Characters: The main characters in this novel are Gabriella “Brie” Sharpe and Ren McPherson. Brie has been through hell. And just when she thought she found happiness, it was ripped away in the most heart wrenching way possible. Everyday thereafter is a struggle to survive and she isn’t sure she wants to survive. But one person gives her hope, even though her feelings for that special someone leaves her feeling guilty as hell. Ren fills her heart in ways she never thought possible but being by her side paints a target on his back. Can she keep her sanity and Ren safe? Or will giving into Ren spell certain death for both of them? Ren is torn. On one hand, he finally has his Juliet back but on the other hand, she is completely shattered. Caring for her is as natural as his love for her but she can’t accept his love when she her heart belongs to another. Can Ren convince Brie to give them a chance before it’s too late? Or will the demons from her past swallow her, and every one she holds dear, whole?
Plot: This is a convoluted love story that gets worse before it gets better. This is a dark story and there are themes such as death, drugs, and kidnapping, so if these are distressing to some readers I would steer clear of this story.
Writing: This novel is written in first person points of view of mainly Brie and Ren, but there are also some chapters from Gabe and War. This is the fifth story in the War & Peace series and cannot be read as a standalone.
Curb Appeal: I love the cover! I really appreciated that this series shows all the characters on the covers and gives the readers a visual of the main characters! The blurb is confusing and doesn’t give much away but I love the little insight it does give!
Ultimately: Every time I pick up a new story in this series, I cannot put it down! This story was devoured in one night and I was left reeling! I never thought I would love all these characters equally or at all, especially the villains, but every character has a special place in my heart!! And every time I think this series is going to conclude, I’m surprised by a whole other storyline K. Webster comes up with! Everything fits together so seamlessly, that I never want this series to end! All in all, if you are in the mood for a hero who never gives up on his girl or a heroine who finally gets what she deserves then come check out This is Me, Baby!!!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
