My younger brother is getting worse, and my job – my duty – is to help him at all costs. We’ve tried everything modern medicine has to offer and nothing works.
Deciding to turn to unconventional treatments, we end up at Fire-on-the-Mountain, a holistic resort deep in the Rockies.
In our search for medical marijuana, I find beautiful, free-spirited Hudson Shavell – a girl who may not only hold the key to heal my brother, but to fix me as well. Even though I can’t afford distractions right now, she’s all I can think about. All that I want.
It’s funny how everything can change with one little SPARK.
Worldbuilding: This story takes place at the Fire on the Mountain Lodge in Colorado.
Characters: The main characters in this novel are Crew Elliott and Hudson Shavell. Crew cannot let his family down. He would rather work himself to the bone than ever let his brother suffer. Unfortunately, his brother is not getting better despite all the medical advice and drugs they have tried. Moving to Colorado is their last hope and if his brother doesn’t get better, Crew fears the worst may happen. With his whole life dedicated to helping his brother, the last thing he ever expected was to have a girl walk into his life and flip it upside down. Hudson is not like any other girl he has ever met. She’s kind, beautiful, and thinks of everybody else’s needs before her own. Spending time with her is the easiest thing in the world but splitting his time between his responsibilities and a new girlfriend is harder than Crew expected. Can Crew keep his new life balanced? Or will it all come crashing down just as he gets everything he has ever wanted?
Plot: This is a romance between Crew and Hudson but it has a really great side story about Crew’s younger brother and what it’s like to live with and battle a horrible disease.
Writing: This novel is written in first person points of view of Crew and Hudson. It is the first novel in the Fire on the Mountain series and can be read as a standalone.
Curb Appeal: I really like this cover! It is very different but completely represents the story. The blurb gives a good rundown on the situation and a little insight into what is to come.
Ultimately: This was a story with lovable characters and a great plot! There were plenty of ups and downs but even though you get dragged to the lowest low, the story ends on a pretty nice high note! All in all, if you are in the mood for a hero who is all about family and a heroine who wants nothing more than to help then come checkout Spark!!!
