Ella Harper is a survivor—a pragmatic optimist. She’s spent her whole life moving from town to town with her flighty mother, struggling to make ends meet and believing that someday she’ll climb out of the gutter. After her mother’s death, Ella is truly alone.
Until Callum Royal appears, plucking Ella out of poverty and tossing her into his posh mansion among his five sons who all hate her. Each Royal boy is more magnetic than the last, but none as captivating as Reed Royal, the boy who is determined to send her back to the slums she came from.
Reed doesn’t want her. He says she doesn’t belong with the Royals.
He might be right.
Wealth. Excess. Deception. It’s like nothing Ella has ever experienced, and if she’s going to survive her time in the Royal palace, she’ll need to learn to issue her own Royal decrees.
Worldbuilding: This story takes place in Bayview in and around Ella’s new home and school.
Characters: The main characters in this novel are Ella Harper and Reed Royal. Ella has been dealt a shitty hand by life and the punches keep coming. Being taken in by her so called guardian, Callum Royal and his five sons, would be a dream come true for some but for Ella, it means trying to fit into a world that she has never wanted and one that does not want her. But she isn’t one to take their gifts for granted so she’s going to make the best she can out of this situation. Unfortunately, Reed Royal is convinced she is here for nefarious reasons and plans on getting rid of her the second that he can. Can Ella keep her head down and stay off of everyone’s radar so she can finish school and take this amazing opportunity to make something of herself? Or will the Royal boys get their wish and kick Ella out before she can even get settled in?
Plot: This story is mainly about Ella trying to embrace her new life all while navigating her new prep school as well as the five sarcastic, trouble-making, ridiculously good looking Royal boys.
Writing: This novel is written in first person point of view of Ella. It is the first novel in The Royals series and ends in a cliffhanger.
Curb Appeal: I love this cover! It’s not a typical romance or new adult cover and that’s what makes it stand out! The blurb gives a great rundown on what the situation is for the main characters but leaves out how funny and angsty this story gets!
Ultimately: The sharp tongues, secrets, scandals, not to mention majorly hot characters makes this novel one of my favorite reads of the year! The cliffhanger was absolutely killer and I cannot wait to find out what is in store for these characters! All in all, if you are in the mood for snarky but swoon worthy hero who is actually a good guy and a spunky heroine who has survived things that cripple most people, the come check out Paper Princess!!!!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
