Benny loves his pretty little dolls.
As long as they do exactly as they’re told.
He keeps them perfect by brushing their hair and gives them pretty dresses to wear.
He likes to toy with them late at night.
One so timid but the other likes to fight.
When his favorite doll runs away…
despite the other doll promising to stay,
his heart becomes broken and he can’t help but cry.
He wants her back home or his pretty little doll must die.
Have you ever had to make a decision that haunts you every single day for the rest of your life…the life you stole back?
I ran for my survival, rocks and twigs cutting into the soles of my feet, my lungs burning and screaming for rest, every muscle tensed and fighting along with me for existence.
I left her.
I ran, ran, ran—from Benny and his lone, pretty little doll—until I couldn’t remember where to find them again.
Worldbuilding: This story takes place in a small town in middle America.
Characters: The main characters in this novel are Jade Phillips and Benny. Jade has been through what would leave other people a shell of their former selves, if not dead. She is tough and driven but unfortunately hounded by her past every single day. The only thing that she can possibly do to make amends for the biggest mistake of her life, is to find Benny and make him pay. But Jade isn’t the only one looking for a little pay back. Benny has missed his little doll and he will do whatever he has to, to get her back. She was the most perfect doll he ever had and even though he has lived without her, the time has come to bring her home. Can Jade find Benny and put a stop to him before he can lay a hand on her? Or will Benny be so far ahead of Jade, that she won’t even see him coming until it’s too late?
Plot: This isn’t so much a dark romance between Jade and her love interest, as much as it’s a romance with dark aspects thrown in.
Writing: This novel is written in first person point of view of Jade. It is the first novel in the Pretty Little Dolls series and ends in a cliffhanger.
Curb Appeal: This cover represents the story pretty well but doesn’t let on how dark the story is! The blurb gives a gist of what the story might be but does a great job of keeping the reader in the dark!
Ultimately: This took me a few tries to start but once I did I was hooked! This is a pretty dark and twisted story but really highlights how far one is will to go to right the wrongs of their past. Jade was such a strong and courageous heroine, who not only kicked butt, but who was loving and kind. All in all, if you are in the mood for heroine who will not let her past get the best of her, then come check out Pretty Stolen Dolls!!!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
