They say love and hate are the same feelings experienced under different circumstances, and it’s true.
The man who comes to me in my dreams also haunts me in my nightmares.
He is a brilliant lawyer.
A skilled criminal.
A beautiful liar.
A bully and a savior, a monster and a lover.
Ten years ago, he made me run away from the small town where we lived. Now, he came for me in New York, and he isn’t leaving until he takes me with him.
She is a starving artist.
Pretty and evasive like cherry blossom.
Ten years ago, she barged into my life unannounced and turned everything upside down.
She paid the price.
Emilia LeBlanc is completely off-limits, my best friend’s ex-girlfriend. The woman who knows my darkest secret, and the daughter of the cheap Help we hired to take care of our estate.
That should deter me from chasing her, but it doesn’t.
So she hates me. Big fucking deal.
She better get used to me.
Worldbuilding: This story takes place in New York City and Todos Santos, California.
Characters: The main characters in this novel are Baron Spencer aka Vicious, and Emilia LeBlanc. Vicious is aptly named. He takes what he wants when he wants and does whatever he pleases. And when he first meets Emilia, he is instantly drawn and disgusted by her. Driven by his repulsion he sets out to make her life a living hell but he never imagined how much he would want her in his bed. Years later after driving her out of town he seeks her out again only to find his lust for her has intensified. Can he get her into his bed as well as do his bidding? Or will she stand her ground and put a wrench into his plans?
Plot: This is a love/hate romance wrapped in an intriguing side story of deceit, death, and vengeance.
Writing: This novel is written in first person points of view of Vicious and Emilia, as well as past/present point of view. It is the first novel in the Sinners of Saint series but can be read as a standalone.
Curb Appeal: The cover is gorgeous, definitely fits Vicious to a T! The blurb gives very little information on the characters circumstances but showcases the hostility that will come across in the story.
Ultimately: I ended up enjoying this story so much more than I anticipated! I loved having their backstory told simultaneously with their present story. All in all, if you are in the mood for a heroine who learns to stand up for herself and a hero who learns to be a better person then come check out Vicious!!!
