Keela Daley is the black sheep of her family. She has always come second to her younger cousin Micah. Even in the eyes of her mother, Micah shone bright, and Keela faded to black. Now, in adulthood, Micah is a bride-to-be and the spotlight is solely on her. Keela is a low priority…or so she thinks.
Alec Slater is a bachelor, never one to bed the same woman, or man, twice. He is a free agent who does what he pleases and answers to no one; that is until a fiery Irish redhead with a temper to match her hair colour knocks him on his arse. Literally.
She hates to admit it, but Keela needs a favour from the cocky Slater brother, a huge favour. She needs him to not only escort her to Micah’s wedding, but to also pose as her boyfriend. Alec agrees to help Keela, but has certain conditions for her to abide by. He wants her body and plans to have it before anyone can say I do.
What he doesn’t plan on is losing his heart as well as the possibility of losing his family when someone from his past threatens his future.
Alec owns Keela, and what Alec owns, Alec keeps.
Worldbuilding: This story takes place mainly in the Bahamas but towards the end of the story it lands back in Dublin, Ireland!
Characters: The main characters in this novel are Keela Daley and Alec Slater. Keela has never really fit in with her family and when it comes to her cousin, Micah, Keela is second best. When Keela gets invited to her cousin’s wedding, Keela all but dreads the whole dog and pony show. Fortunately, she has met none other than Alec Slater, the perfect Slater brother to help with her situation. But Alec is a little bit more overwhelming than Keela originally thought he would be. As they get to know each other, they come to realize that they are so much more compatible than they thought. Can Keela find the courage to bare her vulnerabilities to Alec? Or will outside forces conspire to not only keep Keela unhappy but also keep them apart?
Plot: This is a romance between Keela and Alec. Although there is cheating it could have been worse in terms of the characters not being apologetic or the characters just overall having a rude demeanor, which was not the case at all.
Writing: This novel is written in first person point of view of Keela. This is the second novel in Slater Brothers series and can be read as a standalone, although I recommend reading all the books in order!
Curb Appeal: This cover represents the story amazingly well and is great to look at too! The blurb gives great background on the characters and what is to come for them!
Ultimately: This was a great installment in the Slater Brothers series! I was definitely upset by the cheating but I liked how they overcame that issue and worked things out in the end! All in all, if you are in the mood for a hero who wants to give his girl the world and a heroine who realizes it’s okay to be herself then come check out Alec!!!!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
