There is no escaping a Reaper. I am an elite assassin, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says your time is up, I’m coming for you…
To some Fae, I am their worst nightmare. For I do Death’s bidding. But for all our strength and skill, a powerful enemy has risen up. Finding Ettie could change everything. The Half-Fae is our one chance. She’s sharp and strong and fierce. She steals my breath every time I’m near her. And looking into her eyes is like a bolt of lightning right through me. She’s what I’ve been waiting for my long, dark existence. But for us to be together, we must first stay alive…

Fluttering Thoughts:

Worldbuilding: And I return again to the fab world of dark and light fae, reapers, Death, magic, plotting and scheming, hot romance, and the charming Ireland! Yey!
Characters: I already know Daire because of the Dragon Kings series. He was Rhi’s reaper watcher. I admit that I wondered for a while if maybe they wouldn’t end up together. Apparently not. Rhi’s love life is going to be the end of me, I swear! Ahem. So, Daire, lol. I liked him, in this story he had a bit of a mischievous flavor, and I found out more about him and how he became a reaper which ofc meant empathy galore. He’s also a badass and a man of action, plus hot and charismatic.
Ettie is the responsible big sister, watching over her sisters and taking care of things after their dad died. If that’s not super endearing, then I don’t know what could be. She’s pretty badass too, strong, and no-nonsense which I always like. I really enjoyed her incurably romantic side that she tried to keep to herself for a while there.
They had hot and instant chemistry, and even hotter one of one.
Plot: The romance is hot and pretty slow burn. The intrigue with Bran vs. Death develops nicely with each novel in the series, and I’m very engaged and curious about how things will go from here on. The story is active and has a nice alert tempo.
Writing: Third person, past tense narrative, mostly his/her POV.
Curb Appeal: Cool cover, hooking blurb, insta-buy author name for my fae PNR moods. Donna Grant delivers both hot and fun romance and a deeper story than boy-meets-girl.

I recommend Dark Alpha’s Night to fans of fae PNR with original concepts, hot romance, and intriguing series-wide arcs.
