In a Flutter: Doing the right thing!
Gwen Miller may be a human, but she has no problem taking a stand against her own kind. She’s going to testify against the teenage boy she saw viciously assault a lone shifter female—and no amount of pressure from the boy’s wealthy family will make her back down. But when the harassment turns violent, help comes in the form of a lean, toned wolf with winter-gray eyes.
As a guest at Gwen’s inn, shifter enforcer Zander Devlin can’t help but notice that the fierce and leggy brunette is in serious trouble. Since she’s putting herself at risk for one of his kind, keeping her safe is the least he can do. That’s not the only reason Zander wants her close. He desires her, even as the wolf inside him backs away from her. But his feral instincts are hard to keep down, and as they take shape, they’re harder for Gwen to resist. Then again, embracing them could be the only thing that could save her life.
Worldbuilding: This story takes place in Oregon at a Bed & Breakfast, which is an awesome change of pace! Instead of staying on the pack’s territory it’s cool to be in a completely different place and setup!!
Characters: The main characters in this novel are Gwen Miller and Zander Devlin. Gwen has seen cruelty and violence up close. After witnessing a fellow human horrifically assault a shifter, Gwen believes it’s her duty to tell the Shifter Council what she saw. But those lowlife humans will stop at nothing to get her to change her statement. Try as she might to hold her own against her enemies it’s a happy coincidence that a shifter comes in the nick of time to stay at her B&B. Zander makes Gwen feel things she has never felt before, and she isn’t the only one experiencing new feelings. Can Gwen survive telling the council what she saw as well as a shifter turning her world upside down? Or will outside forces destroy everyone and everything Gwen has ever cared about?
Plot: This story has a romance arc between Gwen and Zander as well as a human versus shifter arc.
Writing: This novel is written in third person points of view of Gwen and Zander. It is the third novel in the Mercury Pack series and I recommend reading this series in order.
Curb Appeal: I love the coloring of this cover, although I wished it featured the heroine or some wolves. The blurb gives good background on the situation and sets the tone of the story.
Ultimately: I really, really enjoyed this novel!!! I loved the storyline and that it wasn’t necessarily Mercury Pack related until the end. Even though this series has dealt with anti-shifter people this story had a different twisted on it and I was absolutely enthralled by it! All in all, if you are in the mood for a wolf who knows things before his human does and a woman who always wanted to be a part of a pack, then come check out Lure of Oblivion!!!!
I couldn't have said that better myself! Reading is huge passion of mine. And I'm glad that books not only expand my world view but that they bring the wonderful people who created them into my life. You can always find me with a book and an eclectic mix of music on. I am a HEA junkie extraordinaire! I am a Beta reader, who loves helping authors bring their characters to life. As well as an avid romance reader (every and anything ;D) turned aspiring author.
